Better Resources: Yahs Blessings

You may have heard the phrase, it's not about what you know it's about who you know. Writing from the perspective of a Gemini Sun and Mercury, I can attest to value in knowing the right people, places and things. As a growing nonprofit organization, it serves us well to acquaint ourselves in varying communities.

Resourcefulness and sustainable practice is vital for Yahs Blessings nonprofit. Yahs Blessings prides ourselves in being as resourcesful as possible. This creates space for community building and increases our durability over time as an organization. There's a circulation of abundance when we begin to share with one another, we create more for us by us.

Last six months of 2022..

As the year came to a bittersweet close we managed to check off some of our biggest goals and work with other activists nearby.

We've joined forces with Neighborhood Well in the late outreaches where they provide portable showers and wellness resources in Hyattsville, MD.

In October we hosted a donation drive and meet and greet with Everlasting Life in Capitol Heights, MD. Shortly after we received our letter granting our organization 501C3 status!

We've also assisted Temple Mother Earth in their weekly community day in Southeast, DC. Cleaning graffiti to restore sacredness in and outside the space.

For the month of November, Yahs Blessings organized multiple Wellness Outreach Programs tending to the unhoused citizens in DC. During these outreaches, we provided essentials such as undergarments, sanitary napkins, socks, food, water, toothbrushes and toothpaste. We even gifted jackets, jeans and shoes! This was a huge accomplishment, one that earned us a consistent reputation in the streets of DC.

Riding the wave of a very encouraging and eye opening holiday season, we continued our mission to help others in the new year.

On Saturday, December 17th, 2022 and January 26th, 2023 we accepted donations at an annual event curated by artrepreneur Haaliyah (@lilhomieliyah) called Thriftcircle. Eventgoers were able to buy, sell, trade, and gift clothes!
