Yah's Blessings is a newly formed nonprofit that was imagined by Jernee' Morse in September of 2021. She reached out to Ama Asare to assist her in carrying out this God given vision. From there, two really good friends with similar passions embarked on a journey to raise awareness of the struggles in some of the black and brown communities in what is known as the wealthiest county in Maryland for people of color..
Growing up in Prince George’s County was very eye opening…
“Although people tend to look at PG county as a wealthy area, there are still so many hidden struggles, rent prices are not cheap, there are some of us that aren’t too far from living on the streets ourselves.” states Ms. Asare. I agree wholeheartedly with the concerns Ama expressed about PG County. 10 minutes in one direction is low income housing whereas 10 minutes in the opposite direction there are million dollar homes.. I attended school with friends that qualify for government assistance and friends that vacation in Martha’s Vineyard yearly. The truth of the matter is there are very real financial, social, and economic differences just a few miles apart from each other.
Generational Impact
Ms. Asare was a 21 year old college student in North Carolina when she received the message from Ms. Morse. Almost instantly, she knew the ideas for this organization reigned from a higher calling and fell right in alignment with her transition of leaving school and returning to Maryland. Ms. Asare will be 23 this year and has inspired young women, like myself, to daringly follow my heart. "The Millennials and Generation z, can see the issues and injustice that is happening around us everyday, feeling like you cannot do anything about it and it's not the best feeling because we want to grow up and have kids but the world is in shambles! But we have to acknowledge the fact that we can do something about it, start by setting the intention. It's not easy but it's work that is very fulfilling, it needs to be done!” I could not have said it better myself! Ms. Asare’s determination so early in her womanhood has complimented Ms. Morse's ability to nurture a seed into fruition..
The Value of Sisterhood
I have had the opportunity to work alongside both women and one of the most admirable things about Yah's Blessings is the value of sisterhood within the foundation of this project. “I used to work with Jernee' in 2020, she was my manager at the time so I already knew we would be great working together. Even after I left that job we still remained good friends. She's the planner, I'm the action. I truly love and admire our dynamic. We're very straight up, blunt, caring, and we have giving hearts. We love to help people, we care, we love the people the world tends to forget about. Of course, we occasionally butt heads but we aren’t afraid to communicate and find the middle ground. Both parties are being heard. One thing about Jernee' is she sees value in everyone's knowledge and she will 9/10 always respond to a call or text within moments.” These heartfelt words undeniably describe the relationship between Ms. Asare and President, Jernee' Morse.
My introduction to Yah's Blessings was through Ama, had it not been for the foundation of trust we've built for each other over the years I may not be a board member today. Sisterhood is about supporting each other in the ways that we can. It takes conscious effort and alliance to co-create harmoniously. As women we aren't just visionaries, we are builders too and Yah's Blessings was founded by these major truths.
How can we help?
Since January Yah's Blessings has partnered with Fund2Organization, to conduct a shoe drive fundraiser. “Our goal is to fill 100 bags of shoes. We also accept donations via Cashapp and Venmo $threadsbyyahuah”. Since this is a fairly new organization, there are still openings for board members which would help organize and maintain Yah's Blessings. “We could use people in areas such as social workers, secretaries, accountants, lawyers, nurses, planners, and those with interest or expertise in any of those areas.” Yah's Blessings is solid proof that it doesn't matter how young or how far, you can always make an impact in the world. I encourage everyone, especially those located in the DMV to get involved with this project!
How we started ..

Ama, at Union Station for one of our missions!
What's next?
Our newest fundraiser is partnered with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. We are offering a dozen for $13.50, half of the proceeds go directly to our organization. We are raising funds to provide essential resources to the homeless. We will be administering the resources in various spots in D.C. starting the first sunday in July. This fundraiser started June 8th and will end September 17th, 2022. If you would like to contribute to this fundraiser click the "Talk to Me" button or contact our President directly!
As stated before a part of our mission is going out into the city to give essentials. We are always looking for more volunteers! As we grow as an organization, my hopes are to travel and provide other communities with what they need to survive. If you find your calling in helping others let's connect further!
Help us, help the world.
